It was announced that the Personal computer version of Valve’s Team Fortress 2 (also available on the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360) will be getting an update automatically via Steam. This latest patch repairs a few bugs as well as adds a few features that fans of this game will undoubtedly appreciate.
The Dustbowl, Badlands, and Well maps have finally been updated with several exploit fixes. In addition, the client crash problem when exiting while processing game stats has also been resolved. Here’s a list of all the changes made to the game:
- Updated versions of CP_Dustbowl, CP_Badlands, and CTF_Well with several exploit repairs
- Fixed Linux build not handling FCVAR_REPLICATED and FCVAR_NOTIFY cvars correctly
- Plugged an exploit where the server could send executable code to the client
- Fix client crash on exit while processing game stats
- Updated the Stats Summary screen to remember your previous selections each time you open the menu and while changing levels
- Added mp_stalemate_at_timelimit ConVar for server admin to allow SuddenDeath when mp_timelimit hits on non-Valve maps
- Updated CTF mode to remember the player who stole the intelligence from the enemy base and reward that player if the flag is captured by someone else
- Replace underscores in map names with spaces so custom maps with names like cp_gravel_pit will show as “GRAVEL PIT”
- Hitting F4 while the tournament mode “Ready” countdown is active won’t automatically set a team to “Not Ready”
- Fixed auto-screenshots not being taken at the end of the map during tournament mode
- Fixed gates being shut during the pre-round time during tournament mode
- Fixed GetDynamicBaseline crash
- Fixed rare animation triggered sound crash

Three new names were recently inducted into the International Game Developers Association’s (IGDA) board of directors. Joining the 10-man team will be designer and professor Brenda Brathwaite, consultant Mark DeLoura, and THQ/Huge Huge Games studio manager Tim Train.
The three will join attorney Tom Buscaglia, who will be continuing to serve the board as its game attorney for the 2008 to 2009 term. Jennifer MacLean was named the chairperson, with Bob Bates appointed secretary and Tobi Saulnier as board treasurer.
The IGDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting video games and its place in the industry. One of its most popular contributions would have to be the hosting of the Game Developers Choice Awards held during the annual Game Developers Conference.
Anyway, here’s the current line up of the IGDA board members:

Sony, Matsushita, and Toshiba are among some 30 companies that’ll be facing an investigation by the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) on possible patent infringement issues.
According to a news release from the commission, the products involved in the investigation are short-wavelength LEDs and laser diodes used in hand-held mobile devices, instrument panels, billboards, traffic lights, high-def DVD players, Blu-ray disc players, and data storage devices.
The investigation comes after a complaint made by Hartsdale, NY, resident Gertrude Neumark Rothschild. Rothschild’s complaint alleges that the aforementioned products infringe on a patent she owns. She is currently seeking to block the products’ importation into the U.S.

Nothing too fancy here, we just have a minor upgrade on this 12” laptop with an upgrade from 1.8 to 1.9 GHz (AMD Turion X2), from 2 to 3GB of RAM and from 120 to 160GB of HDD… Yep has a stated, nothing stunning here….
