Little over a week ago, Capcom (finally) made a formal announcement of a re-release for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for the Xbox 360 and Personal computer. Called Lost Planet: Colonies, this edition will have several new maps, as well as new modes you’ll be able to play.

Here are four new videos featuring four new modes you’ll be able to get for the game’s single-player campaign, which includes First-Person mode, Score Attack mode, an only-bosses mode, and an almost-god mode.

First-Person mode grants you to shift perspective from the normal third-person view. However, you can’t pause the game while switching, and you cannot access this mode while in a VS.

Score Attack mode sets you up with a combo meter. The challenge is for you to score points and keep a combo chain going for as long as you can.

Trial Battle mode pits you against the game’s bosses. You begin by defeating the boss in Stage 1. Each succeeding boss is dictated by how fast you defeated the previous boss.

Off Limit Mode is an almost-god mode that gives increased speed, more powerful weapons, and (get this) unlimited ammo. Even rocket launchers. Booya!

Guitar Hero controller Activision - Image 1As we have reported in a previous article, guitar maker Gibson Guitar recently filed a lawsuit against six major retailers (Wal-Mart, Amazon, Kmart, GameStop, Target, Toys “R” Us), aside from Activision. But now, Gibson has added more names to its legal bulldozer with a second patent infringement lawsuit that now includes Harmonix, its owner MTV Networks, and game publisher Electronic Arts.

According to Gibson’s latest suit, Harmonix’ Rock Band (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) violated one of their patents, which describes a device being used to simulate a concert performance. The device consists of a musical instrument, and 3D visuals supplied by a head-mounted 3D display with stereo speakers.

It should also be noted that before Gibson took action and attempted legal action on other game makers and retailers, Activision sued Gibson, asking for an official declaration that it is not violating Gibson’s patent in any way.

Similar to Activision, which declared that Gibson’s claims are “disingenuous and lack any justification,” Harmonix responded to the lawsuit by saying that Gibson’s patent infringement suit is “completely without merit.” Harmonix explained:

Gibson’s patent, filed almost 10 years ago, required a 3D display, a real musical instrument and a recording of a concert. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are totally different: among other things they’re games, require no headset and use a controller only shaped like a real instrument.

There you have it. We just wish that this issue will get a speedy resolution, so gamers will have less time to waste and more time to rock and roll.

NGAGE First Access Nokia - Image 1After a fruitful beta testing period of N-Gage’s gaming service First Access, Nokia announced that they’ll conclude First Access’ testing phase on March 27 and is now prepping up for the full launch of the service, which will come soon after the end of the beta period.

Like most MMORPGs, the end of beta phase means wiping out servers clean of data. Similar to this practice, Nokia will also wipe out all high scores (oh no!) and reset other related data. Do take note, however, that games bought within First Access’ beta testing phase can be downloaded and reinstalled for free once the full version of the mobile gaming service goes live.

As a bonus, Nokia will be giving away a free copy of Mile High Pinball and 1,000 Community Points to all those who participated in the beta test, provided that they fill out a survey detailing their First Access experience.

For more information, as well as access to the aforementioned survey, do check out N-Gage’s official announcement through the Via link!
