Given that it’s been more than a month since any word was uttered regarding Microsoft’s upcoming Alan Wake (Xbox 360, Personal computer) title, we imagine you’re getting anxious for news.
As it turns out, so are the guys over at the game’s official forums, who’ve also begun citing their concern due to the lack of any current screenshots or videos.
While complaints like these for an upcoming title are pretty run-of-the-mill, what’s interesting is that forum moderator Morry stepped in with this rather cryptic update: “Patience. The media ‘blackout’ won’t continue for too much longer.”
For one, that line partly explains why we haven’t had any news for so long - there was an active effort to keep the project under wraps. The second part’s a tiny more speculative - how soon is “soon?” Morry added this statement as a follow-up in the thread:
Microsoft have always treated it as one of their premier titles, often citing it as one of their most anticipated titles for 2008 (according to Microsoft, so don’t take it as official!).
I’m certain that when the time comes, they will both begin to release more information about the game.
One thing I do know, is that Remedy (Entertainment) does not wish to spoil the experience for players by revealing too much before its release. Due to the nature of the game, building up suspense is a key part, so there are plenty of reasons to leave parts of the game hidden until we have the ability to get our hands on it.
