Another logo for Interplay - Image 1It may seem odd, but a financial report might be an interesting medium for a company like Interplay to communicate its plans to players.

What plans, you might ask? Why, revivals of classic titles and continued development of the Fallout MMORPG, of course. In a nutshell, Interplay reported 2007 net revenues of US 6,001,000 and a net income of US 5.86 million.

Do not make The Incredible Hulk angry - Image 1It’s not uncommon for gaming companies to take a look at the people behind the development of a video game.

Sega recently did that with several members of The Astounding Hulk (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS) development team. Sega Assistant Producer Beejay Enriquez featured the following people:

  • Lead Artist Billy Sullivan
  • Game Designer Ian Villamin
  • Senior Designer Rich Bisso
  • Audio Designer W. Scott Synder

The members of this eclectic team all came from different backgrounds and brought a variety of different skills to bear on the game.

Over the course of Sega’s spotlight, one thing quickly became clear: the team’s main focus lay in bringing the smashing experience of being the Hulk onto a video game for players to really get into.

This involved a lot of work, adjustment, and coordination on the part of the team. For example, the designers had to blend the Hulk’s capabilities with that of New York City’s design. A lot of consideration went into the control input and the Dynamic Sound System whose mood adjusts to pacing of the onscreen action.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg, though. Enriquez and company also touched upon a host of other topics, such as the Hulk’s new design and how the story fits into the game. Sins of a Solar Empire 1.04 coming out this week? - Image 1Over on the Sins of a Solar Empire forums, there’s now word that the Stardock and Ironclad Games hope to release patch 1.04 sometime this week.

Writes Stardock representative Frogboy on the Sins forums, “While we’re not making any promises, we plan to have Sins of a Solar Empire v1.04 ready this week.”

For those who haven’t heard much about this patch, it’s actually a game balancing patch based on fan requests, possibly the first of many game balancing patches that’ll come out as a result of players developing new strategies for the game.

Continues Frogboy on his post,

Both Stardock and Ironclad play multiplayer games pretty regularly… and it’s really quite refreshing seeing new strategies being developed over time that we never would have considered. This is one of the reasons why updates such as v1.04 will continue to be needed — as players come up with new, innovative strategies, we’ll have to continue to update the game to ensure that no single strategy becomes too dominant…

While this bit of news we have is still tentative, it certainly bodes well for the game. Keep checking QJ for more updates on the release of patch 1.04 as we get it.
