Devil May Cry 4 - Image 1

PC gamers looking forward to the release of Capcom’s Devil Might Cry 4 had to wait months longer than their console counterparts, but that doesn’t matter now as the publishers have confirmed its Summer 2008 release.

Capcom says good things come to those who wait, and in this case, it couldn’t be more true. DMC 4’s Computer version will have two new modes and visuals amped up to new extremes.

The first new mode is the Turbo Mode which pushes the action to insane speeds which weren’t possible in the consoles. Also included is the legendary Dark Knight Mode that’ll challenge even seasoned veterans with areas in the game overflowing with more monsters than the consoles could handle before.

For those who have an eye for eye-popping visuals, cut scenes will now move at 120 frames per second. This is a huge leap taking into account that console versions only sported 30 frames a tick.

A demo will be released prior to DMC 4’s shelf debut so owners can test how their systems will perform with it. Launch dates haven’t been revealed, but we’ll inform you as soon as new word is out.

SCi Entertainment turns down proposal from mystery suitor - Image 1We reported earlier that SCi Entertainment, the parent company of Eidos Interactive, announced that it was open for business offers which it would implement in the future.

This day, we got an update on the company. It has just been announced that it just turned down a proposal from one of its “mystery suitors”.

This particular proposal had an offer with a significant premium, reports added. Even if this was the case, the company did not budge. In fact, SCi issued an official statement regarding it. We lifted a noteworthy sentence from the letter:

The board thinks about, amongst other things, that the proposal does not represent sufficient value and that, given the group’s significant short- to medium-term funding requirements.

The pursuit of an uncertain takeover proposal with consequent delay and risks to the company’s proposed issuance of new equity to fund the execution of its revised strategic plan would not be in the best interests of the company or its shareholders.

If you guys want to read more on what the company had to state regarding this move they just made, you do so by visiting the source link below. Don’t forget to check up on our site for more updates.

Grand Theft Childhood authors Cheryl Olson, Lawrence Kutner: Parents often ignore game ratings - Image 1ESRB reported that there’s a growing number of parents who are using the ratings on video games when buying them. Alongside this, the BBFC has also opened up a website to guide parents accordingly on video games.

But even with such developments happening regarding video games and its ratings, there’s are still parents out there who disregard it. This is what Cheryl Olson and Lawrence Kutner stated in their book, Grand Theft Childhood.

In their book, they said that even if parents were “aware of the ESRB rating system, they didn’t always pay attention to it”. Even if games had M and T ratings on the cover, the parents would just rely on their children’s own judgment.

Though most of them might have strict regulations about playing video games in their household, the parents know that their children might be able to play prohibited games in another child’s place.

Olson and Kutner added that nearly all of the parents they were able to talk with concurred with the age categories and ratings set by ESRB, but only for other children not theirs. They actually would let their own kid play games with ratings higher than they’re supposed to.

This is certainly an interesting point raised by the two authors. Now, if you guys are itching to share you thoughts, feel free to do so with the space down below.

Prince of Persia logo from teaser site - Image 1That new Prince of Persia game we’ve been hearing about may soon be put to light, because a new website for the next installment of the franchise by Ubisoft is now on the web. Or at least, it would be totally surprising if this teaser site isn’t for the next-gen iteration of the platforming Prince.

We can’t learn much from the website in question, but it does reveal that the upcoming Prince of Persia title isn’t violent enough to warrant a rating beyond 12 by PEGI. It’s worth noting that the site’s source code contains the words “best action adventure game ever,” “Ubidays 2008,” and “corruption.”

If Ubisoft isn’t pulling any punches in this one, we have the ability to rest assured that this Prince of Persia was developed by Ubisoft Montreal of Assassin’s Creed fame. PEGI already gave a rating, so it could very well be past development. Banking on the next title being Prince of Persia: Corruption won’t be a bad idea neither, and we’re counting on confirmations at Ubidays 2008 this May 28 to 29.

Robin Shou - Image 1 If you’ve been keeping up with the latest news regarding the upcoming Street Fighter motion picture based on Chun-Li, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, then here’s an update that might make your day: Robin Shou has been revealed to play the part of Gen, the wizened old master of the Assassin Fist. (I told you so, Ceasar S.! Now pay up!)

Haven’t heard of Robin Shou? Well, not a lot of people know him by name, but they do know him as the one-and-only Liu Kang of the Mortal Kombat motion picture series. So if you’re looking for someone with a martial arts background, as well as experience with game-to-movie adaptations, then there’s no other actor good enough for this job than Robin Shou himself.

Of course, we also can’t help but wonder - why Gen? Gen was already depicted to be quite the senior citizen when he first showed up in the Street Fighter series. Robin Shou, as we see him photographed in full Gen costume, doesn’t look old at all. Well, in any case, here’s hoping that his rather odd casting choice will be worth it - we can’t wait ourselves to see just who they cast as Street Fighter mainstay Ryu. Updates as we get them!
