Intel processor price drops sighted - Image 1

PC Gamer’s Logan Decker managed to course through the offerings at on the internet hardware retail sites and learned that some price tags for certain Intel processors have dipped. Nay, strike that - the tag nose-dived a good amount from the original price, and in some cases, even up to 50 .

According to him, prices for Intel’s Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66 GHz @ 4 cores) quaddie dropped from a hefty US 530 to just US 266, about as much as you could have gotten a Q6600 for (a few months back).

True enough, the Q6600 (2.4 GHz @ 4 cores) itself had 42 bucks lopped off the top (now at US 224), while the much cheaper dual core E6850 (3.0 GHz @ 2 cores) rests at a tear-inducing US 183. Sorry, no QX’s here.

These numbers are based on 1,000 unit, priced orders, so essentially the amount would play close to - if not two dozen smackeroos above - the prices we stated earlier.

These prices happen to be reflected in the updates selling threads all over Newegg.com, so anticipate a good amount of haggling and price dip competition. We’ll keep you updated on further developments - especially if AMD answers back with a Phenom price stunt of their own.

Guitar_Hero - Image 1

Back in February, the British rock band The Answer has confirmed that their song made the roster of songs for Activision’s Guitar Hero 4. Now if you need more proof that GH4 will indeed come this 2008, we present to you a boatload of fresh details from the upcoming June 2008 issue of the Game Informer magazine.

What should we anticipate for the follow-up to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC)? First off, Guitar Hero 4 will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2. All platforms will have the same features, even though expect a less robust output for the Wii and the PS2.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick stated in April that they will include a lot of instruments and vocals for Guitar Hero 4. Game Informer specifies these additions to be the drums, the bass guitar and vocals. You can create your own guitar and drum sounds plus your own rocker too.

Another interesting added feature is song creation. Yes, you can now unleash your own inner songwriter. Unfortunately, you can’t record vocal tracks yet because of storage and copyright issues. But you can create up to five songs which you can share with the on the internet community over at GH Tunes.

If people give your compositions a high rating, you can upload up to about ten or more songs. To help you make your songs more interesting, you can name them and create their album arts.

All songs will be master tracks but if you’re looking for specific track listings, Game Informer stayed mum on the detailed roster. The magazine did confirm that Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime will be featured.

Finally, Guitar Hero 4 will feature a new guitar design from Red Octane which has an innovative input mechanic subject for patent. Looking good so far? Stay tuned here at QJ.NET for the latest developments.

Homestar Runner Trogdor - Image 1Strong Bad and cohorts will be creating mayhem for the WiiWare and PC soon in Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People via Telltale Games, but it’s also possible that Trogdor will also burninate hapless peasants over XBLA and PSN. At least, marketing executive Emily Morganti of Telltale Games stated that they’re open to the idea. “Maybe down the line,” she said.

Morganti, however, emphasized that they’re concentrating on creating the game for WiiWare and the PC platforms first and foremost, stating that Strong Bad has nostalgic ties with Nintendo. She added, “We’d like to be on all of these at some point. They’re all great platforms for episodic content. WiiWare just happens to be the one we’re venturing onto first.”

If you haven’t heard about Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, it’s a point-and-click adventure game that will throw players into insane puzzles, mini-games, and access to the most hilarious items around, all based on Chapman Brother’s Homestar Runner flash video series.
