Shaun White, who is already a prominent figure in the world of skateboarding and snowboarding, is about to make his name known to gamers in Ubisoft’s Shaun White Snowboarding, a new game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC.
The game looks ambitious enough to give the Tony Hawk franchise a run for its money. Shaun White Snowboarding features a snow-capped world of large proportions, running on the same engine that powered Assassin’s Creed.
Gameplay is physics-driven: your performance is dictated by everything from friction to inertia, the type of board you select, and how heavily packed the snow is. The game also has online multiplayer, allowing 16-32 players at a time, depending on the platform.
The Wii is the exception on the multiplayer rule. This version only supports up to four players. That’s ok though, since the Wii version will have support for the Wii Balance Board, something all the other platforms don’t get to have.
Shaun White Snowboarding will be released sometime this year. Here’s a first look at the game, with an interview with Louis Lamarche, the game’s producer:

It looks like plucky reporter Jade, along with her “uncle” Pey’J, are back for another run in their latest futuristic action-adventure title with Beyond Good and Evil 2. A short debut teaser of the sequel was recently revealed at the ongoing Ubidays 2008 press conference.
The video depicts the next-gen versions of the two protagonists sitting under the hot desert sun. The beautifully rendered graphics certainly talk volumes compared to the previous iteration’s release in 2003. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot even described the new title as the “future of games”.
To give you a superior idea of what we’re speaking about, you can watch the debut video we were able to nab from the game below. Enjoy!

Attendees to the Blizzard’s 2008 Worldwide Invitational will be getting a treat this year, with the presence of two acclaimed names in video game music: Video Games Live and Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain.
As if being able to play both Wrath of the Lich King and StarCraft 2 during the event wasn’t enough of a reason to go.
This will be L70ETC’s first live European appearance, as the Worldwide Invitational will be held in Paris this year. Video Games Live be a symphonic performance, played by a full orchestra and choir.
Tickets for the Worldwide Invitational have already been sold out since March, so it’s tough cookies for those of you who weren’t able to get one. There’s always next year though. For now, we can wait for the updates on Blizzard games that are bound to spring up during the event, which will take place on June 28 and 29.

What exactly makes the new Prince of Persia (Personal computer, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS) title stand out, now that the new hero doesn’t have the luxury of wielding the mighty Dagger of Time? Ubisoft explains the exciting new game mechanic during the ongoing Ubidays 2008 press conference.
In lieu of the dynamic time-twisting mechanic in the previous Prince of Persia titles, the Prince will make use of a new companion to step up the title’s innovative gameplay. The new character, named Elika, will constantly assist the Prince throughout the game and can help him in various ways.
Prince of Persia producer Ben Mates had a couple of choice words to describe Elika. This was what he said:
“When you re fighting, you do superior because Elika helps you. Every single element of this incredible action hero’s abilities are taken to the next level by [this character].”
Mates also confirmed that the game’s main protagonist won’t start out as a prince, and that he’ll be a completely original character detached from the previous heroes of the series. Mates described the new hero as “a wanderer, an adventurer”, and that this played a major role in defining the character’s personality.
Hopefully, more details of this exciting new title in the well-established franchise will be revealed as the Ubidays 2008 event runs its course. In the meantime, you can enjoy watching the epic trailer showing off the tandem of Elika and the new Prince below.

The developers from Electronic Arts have just come out with a sweet Spore (Computer, Nintendo Wii, DS, Mac, and Mobile) video which explains the basic gameplay mechanics of this upcoming title.
The video itself shows off some of the things players can anticipate to encounter in the game, mainly, how the different life-forms will interact with each other. More docile players will probably try to design friendlier creatures which work with other creatures while more aggressive ones will go for a more combat oriented organism.
We’re not going to keep you any longer from the Spore video. Here it is, enjoy!

You guys are probably wondering how things are going with Grin’s work on Bionic Commando Rearmed (PSN, Xbox Live, PC). After all, the devs had scheduled this title to arrive by this month, and now there are only a few more days left before we enter June. From the looks it it, we’ll be waiting a little longer than expected.
Grin updated the official Bionic Commando site to announce that Rearmed won’t be making its initially scheduled Might launch. The devs explained - via an pleasing bit of animation - that this was due to some unforeseen problems that were experienced in the the closing stages of development.
They are hard at work to address these problems, with the game pretty much completed. Regardless, we gotta chalk one up to Grin - they’ve got a pretty creative way of laying on the bad news. Those interested viewing Grin’s official announcement can visit the Bionic Commando official site via the source link below.

At Ubidays 2008, Ubisoft released a new trailer covering Far Cry 2 (PlayStation 3, Windows, Xbox 360) which was decked out with action and drama in ties with the not-so-Far-Cry plot. There’s a whole lot of action in the end, but only after a mild teaser on the scenario that future gamers will get tied into.
As revealed before, players will be dropped into a world filled with life, and it’s in this virtual world that Ubisoft will demonstrate the “spirit” of Far Cry - the non-linear, open progression. Sporting AI features similar to those that spurred the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series to world gaming stardom, Far Cry 2 will also boast aggressive visuals for all platforms.
But enough of that. We’re here for the video, so we’ll leave you to get right to it. We’d hand over the popcorn, but the trailer’s brief enough. Enjoy!
Buy: [ Far Cry 2 (PlayStation 3), (Windows), (Xbox 360) ]
